Tribal Government, Cultural Institution, Education
Getfused partnered with the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation (MPTN) to modernize its web presence, strengthen user experience, and unify its complex digital ecosystem. This collaboration spans a diverse portfolio of MPTN government, cultural, and educational entities, including the Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center.
The initial priority in our engagement with MPTN was a fast-tracked upgrade of the Tribal Member Portal; demanding clarity, speed, and trust. The successful launch of this project established a foundation for our collaborative, long-term relationship and set expectations for strong delivery.
Building on the portal’s success, MPTN has continually turned to Getfused: first for ongoing support of the Mashantucket Pequot Museum website, then for the design of a new MPTN government site, and subsequently for a complete redesign of the Museum website. Most recently, we partnered with the Education Department to create a standalone, design-forward site.
Throughout all projects, our primary approach was to balance each department’s unique identity with subtle, shared visual elements, such as Pequot basket motifs, to promote cultural cohesion without sacrificing individuality.
Getfused has enabled the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation to create accessible, culturally resonant, and user-centric digital experiences across years and departments. These initiatives modernized the digital ecosystem while honoring and strengthening each program’s identity within the Nation.

The Museum sought a refreshed digital presence that conveyed the richness, artistry, and historical significance of the Mashantucket Pequot story.
We completed a comprehensive visual redesign that modernized the site while preserving its deep cultural resonance. This included creating virtual exhibits with dynamic layouts displaying rich text and media, and using existing photo and video assets. We crafted an immersive experience supported by custom visual elements inspired by Mashantucket art.
A new panel library enabled flexible and consistent content creation, and design choices were informed by both analytics insights and a comprehensive UX/UI audit.
Emphasizing visual engagement and usability, we created a dedicated site for the Education Department, transitioning from a complex Episerver CMS to WordPress.
Custom post types were developed to enable flexible, dynamic, and efficient content management of Events and Resources across departments, a detailed staff directory, a categorized document repository, customizable forms, and seamless integration with third-party systems, including scholarship management tools.
For the public-facing government site, MPTN needed an online presence that was clear, accessible, and capable of growing over time. We conducted a consultative content audit to determine how the site could best serve community members and visitors.
The resulting web presence combined a modern, visually appealing design with intuitive navigation, mobile responsiveness, and robust accessibility standards. Google Analytics integration helped measure engagement and guide future improvements, while the flexible structure empowered the Tribal Nation to expand and maintain content internally.
The Tribal Membership Portal serves as a vital communication channel for approximately 850 Tribal members. Our work focused on building a custom members-only portal, developed through a collaborative effort to define UX and functional requirements, resulting in a secure and intuitive platform that allows members to access announcements, documents, forms, events, and internal resources.
Built on WordPress with managed hosting and robust support, the portal included user authentication, a SharePoint-inspired events calendar, and a searchable document library. The content hierarchy was designed to scale with evolving needs, ensuring both members and administrators have longevity and ease of use.
Getfused provides MPTN with UX strategy, website design and development, content architecture, ongoing support, and collaborative design consultation across their network of sites.
